Granted, the plot is not very innovative and some twists are easily predictable. That’s the premise of the sparkling new romantic comedy from the author of the acclaimed international bestseller Ralph’s Party — an irresistible novel about best friends, turning thirty. However I have enjoyed Lisa Jewel in the past turns out this was an early one. Their friendship, they stayed friends for 20 years plus- that is quite beautiful.
Other than that and some oversimplified secondary characters, the overall story was cute. I found the characters’ actions hard to believe; their motivations for doing rash and unbelievably foolish things were weak.

The dialogue actually sounds like authentic spoken language although sometimes the characters do tend thittynothing make too-long speeches and there are some memorable lines. I read Lisa Jewell’s second novel, Thirtynothing,when it was released in She worked for the fashion chain Warehouse for three years as a PR assistant and then for Thomas Pink, the Jermyn Street shirt company for four years as a receptionist and PA.
However it’s still a fun read. So where will it all end up. Upon reflection as I write this it has also given me a sense hope. Nadine, she did end up doing what she loved and thanks to her photography she got the life she had dreamed of full of travel and some uncomfortable situations, and fun.
The plot covers where the characters are now and then goes back and reviews how their relationships started, grew and ended earlier in their lives. I loved this book. It’s interesting that I found quite a few similarities with ‘Ralph’s Party’ – the love I enjoyed this.
