Arthur Machen, author of one of my all-time favourite novels The Hill of Dreams and some truly genius horror tales, and the man who helped lift the veil of modernity’s excesses from my eyes, was an artist of stark, untamed genius.
For a volume that claims to include Machen’s essential fiction, the lack of TGGP is a glaring, confounding omission.
