You are enjoying yourself to the point cirsto you are anticipating with such joy at what is about to happen.
He comes across as a jealous, scheming, whining son of a wealthy man that has been given everything to him on a silver platter. Picaud then spent years plotting his revenge on the three men who were responsible for his misfortune.

I also enjoyed Dantes’ realization that revenge isn’t all it’s cracked up to be when you hraia bring sadness and destruction to people’s lives who are innocent. Although, there a number of passages that appear to be verbose primarily for pecuniary reasons, the Comte of Monte-Cristo is the work where Dumas exercised the greatest discipline.
Francis Ainsworth in volume VII of Ainsworth’s Magazine published inalthough this was an abridged summary of the first part of the novel only and was entitled The Prisoner of If. He is, in fact, supposedly reborn in the enigmatic Comte de Monte-cristo, but I submit that he has been completely subsumed by his new manifestation. It centres on a man who is wrongfully imprisoned, escapes from jail, acquires a fortune, and sets about exacting revenge on those responsible for his imprisonment.
