It is an analog piece of gear, and only takes up half a rack space, so if you had two of these you could fit them perfectly in a single space in a traditional rack casing. It is a soft-knee system that automatically applies higher ratios to your stronger peaks, and 136x ratios for lower level signals.
The standard input and output jacks on the rear panel are designed for operation at the line le It’s really easy to get a quick sound, dnx is also a big plus with this, as it allows you to see quickly if it will work for the application you’re trying to use it for. Unfortunately, the lowest and highest frequencies are a little bit attenuated, especially during heavy compression. It also does have a series of LED lights for metering ebx compression level.
I haven’t ever needed to look at the manual for this, so I don’t know anything about it. So I mainly recommend it for home recording.

Also, most are older units and may need their pots and buttons sprayed or cleaned. In general I use these for mixing drums, but again they are definitely suitable for use with other instruments as well. The inputs and output are unbalanced. It also has a jack and a button on the back for making a stereo pair with another X, where the controls of one unit affect the second connected one.
That’s everything there is to know about the make up of the X, so as you can tell this is a very simple piece of gear. Unit is Tested and Functions Well. Thus preventing any possible “rack rash” or scratches.
I’ve used this in a higher end professional studio, but since they are pretty easy to find at a cheap price, they are definitely a perfect fit for a home studio as well.

In several ways it blurs bdx line between a rack unit and a pedal. It isn’t up there with the DBX A andbut it has a more than respectable sound that is useful more times than not. I don’t think that it sounds full enough on lead vocals, but it depends on the singer. Otherwise it is very clean and in very good condition. This item is in excellent, close-to-brand-new condition.
