I’m a sucker for a good mccaffreyy story, and this fit the bill. For those not familiar with the genre, The Conversation is basically the inarguable stamp of fate, the one sure-fire way you can know for certain that a couple are madly in love.

And what a great story it is! All in all, though, I good nostalgic read. Dragonsdawn can be read on its own just fine but in the end I think it much more mccaffey for the real fan of the series. But some parts in the middle are quite effective and exciting. It cannot fit in one book. Tubberman’s suggestion is voted down, and Paul and Emily are voted in as leaders. You purposefully set it up so there’s no way off!

I still had a hard time getting into it. One of the places hit is Tubberman’s stake. In Pern, though, this seems not to be an accident. And the few thousand colonists who came to Pern intended to keep it that way. At times, particularly at more emotional or sexual moments, and particularly in dialogue, she slips entirely and a few lines are laughably bad.

The Tower and the Hive. This review draggonsdawn been hidden because it contains spoilers. However, the plotting does have some serious hurdles to overcome. I love the story with these books. When Thread arrives, and the colony goes from hippy utopia to apocalyptic war zone in moments, then the novel shines.
